A Beginner's Guide to Metabolic Health Part 1
EPISODE 1 SHOW NOTES
Hey there! I’m very excited to be kicking off season 1 of my podcast, and I’m SO glad you are here. I can’t think of a better way to kick off this episode than by doing a crash course into metabolism. I’ll actually be splitting this into 2 parts, because there’s so much great information to be covered (part 2 will be in episode 2).
Why should you care about your metabolic health?
Metabolic health and metabolism are very popular, and words you’re probably hearing a lot about in the health and wellness space these days.
Your metabolism refers to the processes that occur within our body. These are the processes that essentially keep us alive. This includes converting food into energy, building and repairing tissues, and eliminating waste. Your metabolism is influenced by a wide variety of factors like your age, your gender, and your genetics (yes, your genetics DO play a role).
Your body composition, lifestyle factors such as the food that you eat, your exercise habits, your stress levels, the environment you live in, these all, all these things affect your metabolism. Caring for your metabolic health is important, not only for just maintaining your energy or your weight or your hormones, but also in preventing chronic disease, slowing the aging process. Uh, promoting overall wellness, your reproductive health, your fertility.
In today’s episode, I’m talking about:
- The first 3 core pillars of a healthy metabolism
- What your metabolism really is and why you should care about it
- Signs and symptoms I experienced when my metabolism was struggling
- The importance of a nutrient-dense diet and what that can look like for you
- Why you need to balance your blood sugar and steps to do so
- Why optimal gut health is important, common gut issues, and ways to support your gut
Your metabolic health matters, and it’s never too late to make it a priority.
This information is the education you should have received in school, but unfortunately didn’t. Ultimately, we all want to have good energy and feel our best every day; we don’t want to feel like we’re needing to ‘crawl across the finish line’ at the end of the day.
I hope this episode gave you some practical applications and tips you can start implementing when it comes to your metabolism. After all, you deserve to feel your best from the inside out!

Our attempt at homeschooling has been … interesting. I wish I had words of wisdom or could share a routine or regimen that’s been working, but really, we are in survival mode. Lots of grace, choosing to not fight every battle and doing things together that we enjoy, one of them is baking!
Choosing nourishing
I used to think eating “clean” had more to do with not eating too many calories and avoiding “bad” foods. I was the girl that ate a big salad for lunch every single day, avoided “treats” at all cost during the week and followed rules like: No eating after...
